Yamaha Champions School at Miller Motorsports park
Yamaha Champions School at Miller Motorsports park
The trip started off with a 21 hour drive to Salt Lake City, UT. This trip would be Mason, Our Grandpa De Keyrel and myself. My Grandpa pushed hard and we got to the track Saturday at 11:00am. The school didn’t start till Monday. So Right away when we got there Mason and I were going to pedal around and see who was at Miller. I jumped on my mountain bike and the seat is broken in
half. Not the best way to start off a trip. So I took the seat off my road bike and put it on my mountain bike. We went around and didn’t know anyone.
Go Karts
At 5:00pm the go karts were open to the public so Mason and I had to try out the Miller Motorsports park Go Karts and track. My grandpa bought us tickets to ride three times and we were going to ride them once saturday, once Sunday, and once Monday. We get in the Go Kart. All ready to go and the guy accidentally ripped two of my tickets off. I guess we would just have to ride them twice Saturday and once Sunday. The Go Karts were awesome!!! I had such a great time and I had the fastest time out of the group too!!
Sunday
The next day Mario Alvarez arrived and so did Shane Turpin. Shane called up to the front desk to get us a basketball so he could show off his skills. Shane won the game of Horse but his skills and his titanium legs would fail him in the game of two on two. Eventually the Heat got to us and the basketball was put away for good. Well, lets just say we are all better at riding motorcycles than NBA superstars. After the B-Ball game we found out that the biggest pool in Salt Lake City was right next door. We had to go check it out. Mario, Mason and I went to the pool and did some backflips and front flips off the diving board. Then we would have to hit the Go Karts one more time before the school started. The pool, the Go Karts were a great time but riding tomarrow would be even better.
3 Day School
The YSC started in the museum. It was great to see all the people I had meet at earlier schools.
To the track
Next we headed to the track to watch an instructor ride and Nick give instruction on what he was doing.

Time to ride
We had a great start to the school on Monday. I really worked on body position and hitting my
apex’s. I learned a ton the first day and hoped to do the same the second day. I rode with Shane Turpin, Scott Russell, Ken Hill, and Nick Istach. After day two was done I dicided to go on a 25 mile up hill road bike ride with Scott Russel, Shane Turpin and Ken Hill. Well we got 6 miles out from Miller and my rear derailuer gets caught in my rear wheel and completely ripped the rear derailuer right off the bike. Lucky Shane Turpin had his bright white mechanic gloves on because he turned my bike into a single speed in about 30 mins and I was pedaling back to miller. I have to give Shane a huge THANK YOU for getting me back to miller.
Instruction
Next day we got up and went for a run then we rode till noon and headed to Blackhawk. Over all it was a great trip and I had a lot of fun with my Grandpa and Mason. Thank you Grandpa for driving us all the way to Utah and getting us to Blackhawk on time!
