Friday Practice

Practice on friday was a make the best of it day. If it was sunny in the front it was raining in the back. There were two full wet sessions and the rest were a mix. De Keyrel Racing made the best out of it and tryed to get in a good test.

Saturday

Mason and I got up and went for a run. With the July CRA race being the Show-N-Go weekend too. We stretched out or run and looked at all the cars and Rigs in the pits. We suited up for the day and headed to the riders meeting. At the riders meeting they stated no horse play and that wheelie were going to be punished with a $50 fine. I reminded myself to focus on winning and no celebration wheelies. Riders meeting always ends with a Prayer from Jim Wiles. Every race the circle keeps getting bigger and bigger. It is awesome.

Fast practice was up first. Each group would only get two sessions so I went out right away. I was a little off pace after the two sessions but I was not worried. We had practiced the B bike and I am usually about 2 seconds slower on that bike. Mason was in the slow practice and was tearing it up. Everytime he hit the track he would be in a big group and they would push eachother to go faster. Mason and Sean Colton would come in laughing and high fiving on how awesome it was.

The races started with MWSS ( Expert ) up first. The day was going to be busy with me racing 9 classes and Mason racing 3. We had deside to run pump gas for the weekend to cut costs. We had also entered late so all of my starts were from second and third row. I knew I had my work cut out for me. That was ok. All of these races are just practice to get me faster.

The first three races I was in for the day I felt like I was riding my best but just could not get my times down to where I had run. I told my dad I just cant figure out why I can’t get my times any lower. I had a 5th (MWSS),4th (HWSS) and a 4th (UNLSS) in the first three races. My dad and I deside to make the switch to race gas after lunch. We had been working on measuring fuel in the tank this weekend too. So this would also let us know the fuel consumtion differences too. I immediately noticed a difference. I still had room for improvement in my self and ended up with a 3rd (MWSB), 3rd (HWSB) and a 4th in (UNLSB).

After the afternoon worker break I got myself togeather and asked GOD for help in these next three races. The morning did not start off to well so I new I could use a little help from GOD.

Over the load speeker we heard 3rd call for MWGP. I asked GOD to give me a safe clean race. That is all I can ask for. GOD gave me even more. I rode home to a 2nd place finish in the MWGP race. Next up was HWGP. I was running in fourth place most of the race and a little ways back. I realed the top three in and with two to go I made the pass from third to first comming out of corner two. I held onto the lead for my first WIN of the weekend. In UNLGP I finished out the day with a 2nd. I was happy with my results. The CRA has some fast guys on 750 and 1000cc bikes so it felt great to do good in these two classes.

Mason pushed hard all day and finished with 2nd in all three classes. He was even beating most of the Experts.

Sunday

I was looking forward to Sunday because I always do better on Sunday. Mason and I went out for a run to warm up for the day. Parctice again would run Fast/Med/Slow. I had talked to Shane Fletcher the night before after church. He told me to try a gearing change to see what I thought. We changed but not as far as he suggested. Practice started off great. I was up to pace with great lap times in the first session. The races would run the same as Saturday for it was a double sprints weekend. I started the day off with 2nd (MWSS), 2nd (HWSS) and a 4th (UNLSS). I started the day out great and new I would be in the mix for the next couple of races after lunch. I ran up and did an interview than went back to the pit to focus. I won the first two races after lunch. (MWSB, HWSB) I so wanted to do a wheelie for the fnas and corner works after my second win. I kept my cool and my front tire on the ground. I finished the day out with all 2nds in the last three races.

Mason again continued to drop his lap times and finished the day out with all 2nds. It was fun to see him excited all weekend.

The weekend went great and I ran my fastest lap on the compatition course at Brainerd International Raceway. I ran a 1:37.337 and I am inching closer to the 600cc track record. I feel this was one of my best weekends up at BIR. I will be back again in August for my last run on the compition course before repaving and widening the track. It was an awesome weekend and I would like to THANK all of our sponsors for making it possible. Now off to Miller for Yamaha School of Champions. GOD BLESS
